I haven’t always had a relaxed schedule that allowed me flexibility. In fact, there was time when I worked seven days a week for six straight months (this included working on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).

I was a recent college graduate with no idea of what I wanted to do. So……, I took a job in retail management.

**I will preface my story by saying that the people I worked with, for the most part, were among the kindest I’ve meet in my short life- at the present. …

I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later…

Things have been going incredibly well lately. I’ve been getting a lot of work done. I’ve been making time each day for exercise. I’ve made connections with family and friends that I didn’t think possible (more on this at another time).

Then today happened….

I had gotten up, as always, at 5:00 to begin my morning routine… I don’t have a “set pattern”, I simply make a list of what I plan to do and begin my day. I went about my task completing each one after the other

and then it hit me!

I look at my own life and see that I have come a long way. There was a time where I didn’t want to leave my home. I didn’t care for much of anything. I knew that the world would continue whether I chose to play and active role or remained passive.

But something changed all of that….

As I began to reflect on my state of mind, I found that I lacked personal drive. During those times I would sluggishly go about my day with little care and minimal ambition. After all, what could I possibly contribute?

I suppose…

I can remember thinking to myself “why can’t I just shake this!”. “Why can’t I just be like everyone else and get over it!”. It was so easy for me to look around and think that I was the only person alive that “didn’t have his shit together”.

I felt like an outcast!

I was convinced that I was meant to be in the shadows for the rest of my life….

What I didn’t realize was that the problems I experienced were, in fact, very real… At least they were to me!

That was a sometime ago, but I still…
